About Us

Patricia Brasky ChadwickWelcome to my journey.  If you are like me, you have been wanting to eat healthier and get fit, but somehow you just haven’t been able to find the right mix to make that happen for you.  I’ve read more diet and healthy lifestyle books than I can count, have followed numerous nutrition-related blogs, and tried to implement one diet after another that just didn’t work for me.  Oh, I’ve lost 10 lb. here and there, but usually gained it back.  Then I lost it again…and gained it back.  You get the picture.  Nothing ever really worked for me because I couldn’t ever change my lifestyle.  I’ve beat myself up.  I’ve picked myself up and started over, but at the end of 2013, at 51 years old, I am still 40 lbs. overweight.  I looked as pictures of the family at Christmas and didn’t like what I saw.  A chubby, middle age woman.  I was round.  Really round.   I didn’t like it and decided that THIS year was my year.  I am going to make those lifestyle changes and make them stick.  I am going to cut processed foods out of my diet and see how that affects my weight and my overall health.

Exercise isn’t a big deal for me.  I exercise daily.  I have for 25 years.  I always tell my family that the way I exercise “I should weigh 100 lbs.”  I read articles that say if you add a 15 minute walk to your day, you will lose 10 lbs in a month.  Ha!  Not in my world!  Don’t get me wrong, I am glad I exercise.  It makes me feel good and it keeps all my blood levels down.  My cholesterol and glucose levels are good.  My triglycerides are good.  Blood pressure is a tad high….hoping losing some of the weight helps with that.  But overall exercised doesn’t seem to help my weight any.  So I have determined that it really must be my diet.  So that is where I am going to focus in 2014.

I created this site in 2013 when I first got the bug to get rid of processed foods out my life.  But it fell to the wayside.  I decided to revamp it and make this site my mission for 2014.   All year I’ve been reading books and articles on healthy living.  Books and articles that explain why processed foods are so detrimental to our overall healthy and how these chemicals in our foods are making America fat.  It is not that we are not trying to eat less, but these chemicals incite us to eat more and cause fat to be stored on our bodies.  If that is really true, then cutting these chemicals from my diet should help the pounds to come off…finally.  I guess time will tell.

Now, remember, I am not a nutritionist.  I have two degrees:  a BA in Human Services and an MA in Biblical Studies (I am an ordained Pastor), but they don’t give me any special qualifications to give you medical advice.  On this site I am going to just share what I’ve learned by researching on my own, and sharing what other, more qualified writers have to say about healthy, wellness, and nutrition.  As always, take what you want and leave the rest.  Some of what I share may help you.  Other things may not even interest you.  That’s okay.  And as always, before you start any lifestyle change, check with your doctor to make sure you have the green light.

I hope you join me on this journey to live lean in 2014 and cut the junk out of your diet.  If you have any questions or want to share any part of your own journey, email me at patti.chadwick@juno.com

I’d love to hear from you!
